Greetings! Today I want to share with you how to make a wonderful cranberry walnut conserve. This is a great alternative to a typical cranberry sauce because it incorporates lots of flavorful ingredients, both fresh and dried. Fresh or frozen cranberries, crunchy apples, sweet oranges, crispy walnuts and chewy dried cranberries make this a great offering to your Thanksgiving meal.
I have also used different types of sugars as well as cranberry juice instead of the typical addition of all water. You could use orange juice or mango juice or apricot nectar if you like. Make this one your own and you will see how wonderful and different cranberry sauce can be! No more icky stuff out of a can for you! Cranberry sauce should not take the shape of the can nor should it be sliced! It should be just like this, a bowl full of jewels fresh from your kitchen!
You can make this weeks in advance and store it in the fridge. You can make it the night before you intend to serve it and let it cool on the stove overnight. You can make this and ladle it into hot jars and water bath process for 15 minutes and give as take hope favors for your guests to enjoy the next day on their turkey sandwiches!
I hope that you will give this a try and I hope you love it. Nothing says Thanksgiving, like fresh, homemade cranberry sauce!
Happy Eating!
P.S. This recipe rendered 2 full quarts of cranberry sauce.
