Greetings! In preparation for making some amazing wings, you have to have an amazing sauce. Tonight I am going to show you how I make a delicious Teriyaki sauce for my chicken wings. This is one of my personal favorites as well as my daughter Micah.
I am not a huge fan of wings in a hot sauce, but these are divine! You can make this sauce with ingredients that are easy to find and that you may already have in your cupboard or pantry. The beauty of this sauce is that with the exception of a couple crucial ingredients that cannot be subbed or omitted, you can really mix this up with or without some of the others without having it ruin your sauce.
I have used soy sauce, fresh ginger, fresh garlic, brown sugar, honey, mirin, toasted sesame oil and regular sesame oil. Now if you don’t have Mirin, no worries, you can leave it out. But if you can find it, use it, and it should not be that hard to find. I have seen it in the Asian section of larger stores. It adds that perfect balance of sweet and sour to the mix. It is what they use to season sushi rice and it is delicious.
Just mix all of the ingredients in a saucepan and stir well. Heat over medium until it comes to a simmer and allow to boil for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow to cool if you are going to use this for a raw meat marinade or if you are going to use it to dip and bake on to your wings, then just set aside until ready to use.
This sauce can be thickened up if you prefer for use in a teriyaki beef or chicken dish by adding a bit of water and corn starch or tapioca starch slurry and heating till thickened to your preference.
I hope you give this a try and I hope you love it!
Remember to stay tuned to see how I make my delicious baked Teriyaki wings!
