Homemade Pasta Chips ~ Pasta Chips Recipe ~ Seasoned Pasta Chips ~ Noreen’s Kitchen

Today I am sharing a quick and easy way to make your own delicious pasta chips! We used to be able to buy “pasta chips” in the store but recently have had a hard time finding them. I have an upcoming recipe that I wanted to use them in and now they have disappeared from the stores. So I had to make my own. I think I have found an awesome way to make them that is inexpensive and quick. If you have a deep fryer, that will be the way to go, but these could also be done in a skillet with hot oil or a pot, if you like. These are delicious and addictive and you can make them sweet or savory!

I am using my Masterbuilt turkey fryer to fry these pasta chips in some hot peanut oil. The secret here is that I am not making my own pasta. I am using egg roll wrappers. They are pasta. They are rolled super thin and they are easily available in most grocery stores. You can also get them at your local Asian market. They are also super cheap. My package of 20 wrappers was just over $2. I cut these into 16 squares and then popped them in the hot oil in batches. When dropping them be careful not to splash, then take your spider and stir the oil vigorously so the chips separate and don’t stick together. These take between 20 and 30 seconds and they are done.

Remove from the hot oil and allow them to drain on some paper towels. Then I transferred the hot chips to a bowl and seasoned them with pizza seasoning, garlic powder and fresh grated Parmesan cheese. These will be used in an upcoming recipe that I am excited about sharing with you. But I am going to keep that a secret. I promise you won’t have to wait much longer to find out!

The beauty of these chips is that they are not only delicious plain, with just salt, or seasoned up savory, like I have done, but these are also delicious seasoned with either powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar. Done the latter way, they remind me very much of my Hungarian grandmother’s “bowtie” cookies that I remember her making when I was very, very young. A dough that was rolled super thin, cut into diamonds then slit in the middle and knotted into itself before frying. Then doused with powdered sugar and enjoyed.

While I have used egg roll wrappers, you could easily do this with won ton wrappers or even try using the fresh pasta sheets available in the fresh pasta section of the market that would be used for lasagna. You could give that a try although I never have. I think you may get a similar result.

I think these chips are going to make an excellent addition to your game day or super bowl party fare! Serve these with marinara sauce for dipping and be sure to stay tuned for what I have planned with them!

These “chips” are delicious, no matter how you season them. I know you are going to love how cheap, easy and tasty they are and once you see how I use them, you are definitely going to want to make these for yourself!

I hope you give making homemade pasta chips a try and I hope you love them!

Happy Eating!
