How to Make Mustard Glazed Ham: Noreen’s Kitchen

Greetings! Easter was just yesterday and I decided to stray from my usual pineapple, cherry and brown sugar ham and try something different.

So I thought about it and I took inventory of what I had on hand and this is what I came up with! A great sweet and tangy and a little spicy glaze that I made from some pineapple jam, apricot jam and some grainy and Dijon mustard. I heated it up with just about 1/2 cup of pineapple juice that I had in the fridge and then poured that goodness all over my smoked shank portion ham. Baked it in the oven for about an hour at 350, just to bind that glaze to the ham and heat the meat all the way through. I basted the ham twice during the hour it was in the oven and boy did it come out delicious!

I sliced the ham before taking this to Mom and Dad’s house and poured over the extra glaze so the meat wouldn’t dry out. There was actually no chance of that happening. This was the moistest, most delicious ham we have had in a long, long time.

I hope you give this a try. Ham doesn’t have to be just for Easter! You can simply adjust the amount of glaze for the amount of ham you have. Remember equal parts of jam and mustard. I used 1 cup each of the jams and 1/2 cup of each of the mustard. You can use whatever mustard you like, all grainy or all dijon or all yellow mustard for that matter.
