Greetings! Today’s video is being done in conjunction with the Today’s Modern Family website. I wanted to do a demonstration of something fun that could be done as a couple or as a family for Valentine’s day or anytime really. Who doesn’t love Chocolate covered strawberries? These are delicious and easy.
I have shown long stemmed strawberries because I was able to get them. Around this time of year you are able to find them in some grocery stores. They tend to be a bid pricier but I feel like they are worth it for a special treat. They look super elegant and are a bit easier to dip because of the long stem. Of course you can use regular strawberries for this treat and should not kill yourself trying to find the long stemmed ones.
These are also a great alternative to purchasing them in the specialty candy store or bakery where they can go for upwards of $2 a piece! You can make lots of them for what you would pay for a dozen of them at the store or even at those shops that sell the special chocolate covered fruit bouquets.
I used a good quality chocolate chip for melting and coating the strawberries, but you could use the Wilton/Merken’s candy melts that are available at many craft and big box stores. You can choose to melt in the microwave or as I did over a double boiler.
These are simple, delicious and special. What better way to show someone how much you care about them then to give them a super special treat like chocolate covered strawberries?
