Black Forest Brownies for Valentine’s Day: Noreen’s Kitchen

Greetings! Let’s make some decadent delicious and simple brownies with an old world twist! Black Forest cake is an amazing dessert served in Germany. Usually a type of torte made from layers upon layers of dark chocolate cake interleaved with dark sweet cherries, kirsch, whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate and maybe even a sprinkle of almonds to top everything off. Well that could take a bunch time that I don’t have. So I decided to make something similar in a brownie version.

Black Forest Brownies were born. Using your favorite brownie batter (I used a box mix from my pantry) I added two 16 ounce cans of dark sweet cherries that I drained and then a sprinkle of white chocolate chips and baked that. Then I topped the whole thing off with some marshmallows and drizzled on some chocolate for good measure.

These turned out amazing. Like a chocolate cherry crumble. Dark, moist, fudgy and delicious. They are the perfect family dessert for Valentine’s day or any day for that matter!
