Hi Giallo Zafferano viewers and welcome to our kitchen. Today we’ll be preparing a dessert that’s very simple but always a winner: Fresh Strawberry Tart. Let’s see what ingredients we’ll need.
• 20 oz (500 g) of short pastry dough
• 20 oz (500 g) of fresh strawberries
• 2 and a third cups (800 g) of custard
• Powdered sugar to finish
OK, let’s take a look at how to make our tart.
First, roll out your pastry dough to a thickness of a bit less than half an inch. After you’ve done that, butter and flour a pie plate and press the rolled dough into the bottom of the pan.
I’ve placed the dough into the pie tin. Now, with a small knife trim the excess dough from the edges. Pierce the bottom of the crust with a fork and blind bake the crust. To do this put a piece of parchment paper over the crust, add some dried beans to weigh down the crust, and bake for 40 minutes at 350°F (180°C). By doing this, the crust will stay flat and won’t dry out.
I’ve removed the baked crust from the oven and left it to cool and after that removed the parchment paper and the beans. Now let’s fill the crust with the custard.
Now, you can add the strawberries. Try to spread them around evenly. You can add them whole if they’re small berries, or if they’re a bit larger, cut them in half.
Our strawberry tart is finished. Now sprinkle the tart with a bit of powdered sugar, or if you want, you can add a thin layer of gelatine to cover.
From all of us at GialloZafferano, bye and see you next time.
