Russian Meat Stew

How to make delicious meat stew. Zharkoe is a traditional Russian meat and potatoes stew. It’s a hearty dish, perfect for a cold day. It is quite similar to goulash. You can use any meat that you prefer for Zharkoe – e.g. beef, pork, lamb, chicken. This is another – One Dish Meal, that I think many will Enjoy! As with many recipes, I like to start the browning process on the skillet: it creates a crust that seals in the moisture and adds more flavor. I prefer to cut my veggies into bite size pieces. It’s a personal preference, of course. But to me it looks more refined, like someone took a great care to slice them just right.

You will need :
200 gr of gammon -pork – you can use any other meat
4 medium potatoes
1 carrot
1 onion.
Salt & Pepper

Directions:
Step 1 : First prepare all the vegetables and cut them into cubes.
Step 2 : Cut the meat into stripes or however you desire.
Step 3 : Fry the onions first until golden brown, then add the carrots and potatoes and fry for about 5 min just to get a beautiful colour.
Step 4: Fry the meat separately until its nice and crispy.
Step 5 : Mix all the ingredients together, season well and place in a baking tray.
Step 6 : In a pre heated oven place the tray, cover it with foil and cook for 40 min at 180 C or 350 F.
Step 7: Serve on a plate as you wish :)) with some bread and salad!
