Quick & Easy Besan Cheela or Chilla (Chickpea flour Omelette or Garbanzo bean pancakes) – Vegetarian Omelette
Vegan, Gluten free, perfect for diabetic, with high cholesterol, high blood pressure. It doesn’t matter, what diet you are following, this recipe is perfect for almost everyone.
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup Besan(Chickpea flour can be bought from Indian grocers)
Salt to taste
1/4 tsp Ajwayan(Carom seeds if available)
A pinch of Turmeric powder(Haldi)
Ginger, Garlic & Green chilli to taste
Oil if you wish to cook your cheela with little oil
Water as needed, 3/4-1 cup but if you add vegetables, you may want to reduce the amount of water since vegetables release water.
To get better texture and taste, I add 1/4 cup of rice flour and 2 tbsp of Semolina to 1 cup of Besan(chickpea flour) but since I wanted to share diet recipe, I left out those flours.
This recipe can be prepared plain, stuffed or by adding veggies into batter…just add your own twist!
